Malik - Piano Recital

Fundraiser for gifted young Bangalow pianist

Event Info
Categories

Malik is a young Bangalow pianist who is gaining attention and praise for his remarkable talent.

Now 17, Malik discovered piano just 5 years ago, and it quickly became his passion and purpose.

Described by mentors as a one-in-a-million talent, Malik is a true prodigy whose musical ability far exceeds his years.

This concert will raise funds to help Malik take up an incredible opportunity: Malik has been offered a partial scholarship to reside at Ormond College and study at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music (University of Melbourne) — which will shape his future as a professional musician. Even with the scholarship, the costs of Ormond College residential fees are unaffordable for Malik’s single mum.

Malik's Journey:

Starting piano in Bangalow with Linda Armstrong, Malik later became a student of Mark Hooper in Brisbane. Featured on the popular ABC TV series ‘The Piano’, Malik garnered praise from judges Harry Connick Jnr and Andrea Lam.

In 2024, Malik passed his Licentiate Diploma of Music Performance with honours and in 2025, was awarded first place in the 17-18 year category of the Queensland Piano Competition. Malik has performed at a range of local events in Brisbane and Northern NSW, including the Bangalow Chamber Music Festival, Mark’s Hooper’s Concertiade series in Brisbane, as well as a full recital at Judith Neilson’s venue, ‘The Church’ in Sydney.

Holding a scholarship at the Northern Rivers Conservatorium for two years running, Malik has also studied Jazz with instructor Nic Campbell. In 2026, Malik is looking forward to beginning tertiary studies at the Conservatorium of Music in Melbourne.

Concert Program:

A selection of Malik’s favourite pieces from composers Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninov.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
