What to Expect:
Led by Lilith from the talented Byron Bay Hula / Mana Aloha Troupe(meaning Powerful Love), these classes bring the spirit of the islands to life. The troupe is known for sharing uplifting performances at local celebrations, fundraisers, festivals and aged-care events, celebrating nature’s beauty through graceful movement, flowers and smiles.

Classes are relaxed and beginner-friendly, making them perfect for seniors who want to move, laugh and connect in a positive, supportive environment.

Helping seniors stay connected through rhythm

Elder Beats Drumming + Social Tea

Experience the uplifting power of rhythm in a relaxed and friendly setting. Elder Beats is a free group djembe drumming session for seniors, designed to boost energy, enhance wellbeing and encourage connection through music. Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned musician, everyone is welcome to join and contribute to the rhythm in their own way.

What to Expect:
Drumming has been shown to improve mood, reduce stress and promote physical wellbeing, while fostering strong social connections. Guided by Gareth Jones, who spent a decade in South Africa learning from Zulu elders, performers and musicians, each session draws on his deep experience and passion for drumming. Gareth also studied with master drummers in Ghana and has spent the past two decades teaching and performing professionally.

Drums and percussion instruments are provided. Just bring your enthusiasm and enjoy an hour of rhythm followed by a social tea in the courtyard.

Connecting seniors through the art of story

Storytelling with Talia Levy

Step into a world of imagination, folklore and wonder with Storytelling for Seniors, a new creative series presented by the Byron Seniors Club. Led by Talia Levy, a gifted local storyteller, mentor and educator, these sessions bring the timeless magic of story to life through performance, conversation and creative exploration.

What to Expect:
Each session begins with a storytelling performance by Talia, followed by a relaxed group discussion on the tales shared. Participants are then gently invited to explore their own stories through biographical and creative storytelling. Tea and coffee will be provided, making it a warm and welcoming space for connection.

Storytelling is as old as humanity itself, reconnecting us with our roots and reigniting the joy of imagination. Folk and fairy tales have the power to enchant, inspire and awaken long-forgotten parts of ourselves. These sessions are designed to be nourishing, creative and pressure-free — you’re welcome to participate or simply sit back and enjoy.

Thursday 20th November | 10:30am – 12:30pm

Where:
