Byron Theatre is proud to present Harmony Amidst Destruction, an evocative fusion of movement and music that brings a remarkable true story to the stage.
A powerful dance-theatre performance born from the ashes of the Beirut Port explosion, Harmony Amidst Destruction fuses breaking, live music, and raw emotion to explore resilience, loss, and rebirth. Performed by Middle Eastern artists Roj and Ralph Kabalan, the work transforms pain into beauty. The show will feature multi-instrumentalist Greta Kelly on shah kaman (Persian spike-fiddle) and violin, performing a new style that blends hip-hop with traditional instruments, creating a bold and unforgettable exploration of adversity, resistance, and survival. Revealing how art becomes a lifeline amid chaos. Through explosive movement and haunting soundscapes, the piece invites audiences on a deeply human journey of destruction and hope.
The opening act will feature Deltoy is an Australian hip-hop artist and storyteller of Bundjalung heritage, proudly identifying with his South Sea Kanaka breed roots. Fusing lyrical depth with cultural pride, Deltoy uses his music to celebrate identity, connection to Country, and community resilience. His work blends traditional influences and contemporary beats to amplify First Nations voices in the hip-hop scene, weaving personal narrative with broader socio-cultural themes.
This project is supported by Arts Queensland.
