Running for a Cause: How the Fletcher Street Cottage Running Team is Empowering the Homeless

A group of amazing individuals who have experienced homelessness firsthand are gearing up to run in the Gold Coast Marathon! Their mission? To raise funds for Fletcher Street Cottage, our homeless hub that provides vital services such as food, washing facilities and advocacy services to people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

It's a well-known fact that homelessness is a significant issue in our society, and organisations like Fletcher Street Cottage play a vital role in providing support and assistance to those in need. However, the lack of ongoing government funding means that we rely entirely on community donations to continue our work.

Running for a Cause

That's where you come in! By supporting this fantastic effort, you're not only helping those in need, but you're also empowering these inspiring individuals to improve their health and create connections. It's an opportunity to make a real difference in people's lives and show your support for an incredibly worthy cause.

The group of runners has been training hard, determined to complete the marathon and raise as much money as possible for Fletcher Street Cottage. It's an impressive feat that showcases their commitment and resilience, and we can all do our part by supporting them.

Donating to this cause is an opportunity to contribute to something much more significant than ourselves. It's about supporting a community and showing kindness and compassion to those who need it most. Every donation, no matter how small, can make a significant impact on someone's life.

Led by Service Users

Founder and service user Mathew Broster has a powerful message about the initiative: "This vision is a great chance to bring communities together while spreading a valuable message of awareness. By those sleeping rough and those either at risk or experiencing homelessness, by getting 'Off the Street, On Our Feet,' we have the active opportunity to inspire many. Therefore, and with the community behind us, this vision can spread, and other communities can also partake in similar opportunities."

We couldn't have said it better ourselves. Let's all come together to support this worthy cause and make a difference in the lives of those facing homelessness. Donate today and be a part of this amazing journey!
