Byron has a strong sense of connection, creativity and care. People genuinely want to help and make a difference, and I’m proud to be part of that.
Tell us about your role at Fletcher Street Cottage I wear a few hats at Fletcher Street Cottage, including Daily Coordinator, Community Support Worker and Assistant Breakfast Coordinator. That means I help keep things running smoothly day-to-day, support people with their individual needs and assist in making sure everyone starts their morning with a warm meal and a welcoming space. No two days are ever the same - and that’s part of what I love about it.
What’s the most inspiring part of your job? The strength and resilience of our most vulnerable inspires me every day. Despite the challenges they face, there’s so much humanity, humour and kindness. Being able to offer support, even in small ways, feels meaningful. I’m also constantly moved by the compassion I see between staff, volunteers and service users.
I love my community because…it shows up for one another. Byron has a strong sense of connection, creativity and care. People genuinely want to help and make a difference, and I’m proud to be part of that.
