Women’s Space, We Are Mobilise and Living Lab

9 – 12 September 2025

This week at Fletcher Street Cottage we’ve been busy connecting with partners, planning services and supporting our community. Here’s a snapshot of what happened.

Highlights

  • On Tuesday, Community Corrections provided their weekly service, while Damian, our Manager, attended the Northern Rivers Zero Action Group. The meeting showcased significant progress across the Northern Rivers, with multiple success stories of people moving into housing. Updates included government contracts, cross-border collaboration, communication strategies and pilot projects in health and pet support. Staff were encouraged to access upcoming training opportunities using free access codes.
  • Wednesday saw a meeting with Noah Yang, Founder & CEO of We Are Mobilise, to discuss ways Fletcher Street Cottage and We Are Mobilise can work together to support people to sustain their tenancies and move out of homelessness. Through this partnership, our service users can access the Kickstarter Program, providing essential relief funding for housing, bonds, rent arrears and more. You can read about their programs here: We Are Mobilise Programs – or come into Fletcher Street Cottage to enquire about support.
  • Wednesday afternoon was dedicated to planning for our Women’s Space. We’re excited to watch this space grow and continue providing safe, supportive programs for women in our community.
  • On Thursday, we hosted our visiting GP and the Homeless Health Outreach Team. In the afternoon, we ran a ‘Living Lab – What Matters Most’ workshop, where people experiencing homelessness or with lived experience shared their insights on how climate change has affected them. You can learn more about or join these workshops here: Living Lab Workshops.
  • Over 220 people accessed our services this week, including health care, practical support and community connection.
