Lest We Forget Dice Run returns to support Fletcher Street Cottage

A motorcycle ride, a shared commitment to veterans and a practical way to support people doing it tough in the Byron region will come together at this year’s Lest We Forget Dice Run.

The Veterans Motorcycle Club Northern NSW Chapter will hold the ride on Saturday 31 October, with proceeds going to Fletcher Street Cottage. Riders will gather at the Mullumbimby Cenotaph, where registration opens at 8am before the ride departs at 10am. It costs $30 to register, with raffles at every stop and more than $1,000 in prize money to be won.

The club first chose Fletcher Street Cottage as the beneficiary of its Lest We Forget Dice Run in 2025. The club’s support is intended to help local veterans who need assistance, alongside the many other people who turn to Fletcher Street Cottage for support.

Fletcher Street Cottage offers practical help, advocacy and referrals to people experiencing hardship. Its services include meals, showers, laundry, emergency relief and support with health and housing needs. For someone facing a difficult time, these everyday essentials can also be a first step towards connection and longer-term support.

Veterans Motorcycle Club Northern NSW Chapter President Steve ‘Bones’ Williams emphasised the importance of veterans supporting one another.

“Many of us know mates who’ve done it tough after leaving the Defence Force. This ride is about looking after our own - raising awareness and practical support for veterans who’ve fallen on hard times. Fletcher Street Cottage does incredible work helping people in need, and we’re proud to support their mission.”

Damian Farrell, Manager of Fletcher Street Cottage, said the ongoing partnership makes a meaningful difference.

“We’re honoured to be chosen as the beneficiary of this ride. The funds raised will directly support local veterans and others in need with meals, crisis support and vital services. It’s community-driven initiatives like this that remind us what true solidarity looks like.”

The return of the Dice Run gives riders and supporters another chance to turn a day on the road into practical help for the local community. Whether you ride, take part in the raffles or help spread the word, your support will contribute to the work of Fletcher Street Cottage.
