The first day of the year is often filled with big intentions and gentle beginnings, and this New Years Day Byron Bay will welcome something truly special. Rhythms of Resolution returns to North Byron Hotel on Wednesday 1 January, inviting locals and visitors to gather in the summer light and celebrate the year ahead through music, movement and meaningful community connection.
From 2pm till 10pm the lush garden setting of North Byron Hotel becomes a vibrant open air dance space, guided by a carefully curated lineup of eight DJs. International guest Phil Perry, founder of London’s legendary Full Circle, joins some of the Northern Rivers most respected selectors including Iain Ha Yes, XUJA, Monsieur Diop, Lord Sut, Afrodisea, Mr Nice and Taz Miller. Live African percussionist Gabriel Otu will add a heartbeat to the day, bringing an organic layer of rhythm that lifts spirits and bodies alike.
The musical journey flows through deep house, Balearic textures, Afro and Latin grooves and world electronic sounds. It is not about the rush of midnight fireworks, but the steady joy of dancing together in daylight, surrounded by friends, community and wide open sky. When the sun goes down, the celebration continues at Paradiso with a free after party for all event-goers, keeping the energy alive for those who want to carry their first dance a little further.
What sets Rhythms of Resolution apart from a typical New Years Day event is its purpose. A share of profits will be donated to Fletcher Street Cottage, supporting people in our region who are experiencing homelessness. The event builds on a long-standing tradition of local music culture supporting frontline community care.
Kate Love, Marketing Manager at Byron Community Centre and Fletcher Street Cottage, says:
“Events like this remind us how powerful the Byron community can be when we come together with intention. Every ticket sold helps provide real support for people doing it tough here at home. It is a beautiful way to begin the year, with music, connection and genuine care for others.”
With rhythm as the thread that ties it all together, Rhythms of Resolution offers an uplifting way to welcome 2026. Dance, relax, reconnect with familiar faces and support the work of a vital community service at the same time. It is a gathering for the soul as much as the dance floor.
