The Heart of Our Organisation
Volunteer Week is an annual event that takes place during the third week of May. It is a time to recognise and celebrate the contributions of volunteers in communities around Australia. At the Byron Community Centre, we are incredibly grateful for the dedication and hard work of our volunteers. They are the heart of our organisation, and we could not do what we do without them.
Our volunteers come from all walks of life and bring a wide range of skills and experiences to the table. Some help out at the Byron Markets, while others assist with events at the Byron Theatre. Many volunteer their time in support of the homeless at Fletcher Street Cottage, while others work to maintain the various spaces and facilities we have at the Byron Community Centre.
Regardless of where they serve, our volunteers are essential to the success of our organisation. They help us to provide a wide range of services and programs that benefit the Byron community. From cultural events and live music to homeless services, our volunteers are integral to everything we do.
Volunteer Week 2023
As we celebrate Volunteer Week, we want to take a moment to say thank you to all of our volunteers. We are incredibly grateful for your commitment, dedication and hard work. You give so generously of your time and energy, and we are constantly amazed by your passion and enthusiasm.
Whether you are a regular volunteer or have only helped out once or twice, we want you to know that you are an important part of the Byron Community Centre family. Your contributions make a real difference in the lives of the people we serve, and we could not be more grateful. This week we are giving out Appreciation Certificates and gifts to our volunteers, and hosting a Life Drawing celebration event.
We Love Our Volunteers
As we look to the future, we know that our volunteers will continue to play a vital role in helping us to fulfil our mission. We hope that more people will join us in this important work, as we strive to build a stronger, more vibrant community in Byron and beyond.
So, to all of our volunteers at the Byron Community Centre, Byron Markets, Byron Theatre, Byron Spaces and Fletcher Street Cottage, we say thank you. You are the heart of our organisation, and we could not do what we do without you. Happy Volunteer Week!
Volunteer Spotlight
Meet Amanda, our amazing Breakfast Coordinator at Fletcher Street Cottage. This week, we want to recognise Amanda for her passion for the homeless, having done over 550 volunteer hours! In Amanda's own words: "This town has done a lot for me, and I want to give back. I enjoy working with our vulnerable community and helping them have a better day. Homelessness can happen to anyone, it does not discriminate." Thank you, Amanda, for your incredible contribution to our community and for being a shining example of compassion and selflessness. We're honoured to have you on our team!
