On Friday 17 October, the Byron Theatre will come alive with stories, ideas and performances as it hosts Stella Day Out 2025. This one-day festival is dedicated to celebrating women’s writing and creativity and brings together an inspiring line-up of authors, poets and thinkers from across the country.
Stella Day Out offers audiences the chance to immerse themselves in a rich program of conversation and culture. The day will feature thought-provoking panels, intimate author discussions and moving live performances that shine a light on the power of storytelling and the voices shaping our times.
The Byron Bay event welcomes an extraordinary group of writers including award-winning novelist and essayist Charlotte Wood, Northern Rivers author Jessie Cole, celebrated writer of fiction and memoir Krissy Kneen, Stella Prize winner Mirandi Riwoe, bestselling author and former teacher Gabbie Stroud, poet and arts critic Zenobia Frost, and 2023 Miles Franklin Literary Award winner Shankari Chandran. More guest speakers and performers will join them to make the program a truly memorable day of literature and creativity.

Stella, the organisation behind the prestigious Stella Prize, leads this national initiative to champion gender equality and cultural change by supporting women and non-binary writers. Stella Day Out in Byron Bay is part of this important mission, offering our local community the opportunity to engage directly with some of the country’s leading literary voices.
