Meet the Stallholder is a series on the makers and creators at Byron and Lennox Markets, what makes them passionate about their products, and how to make a micro business a success.

Hi Shir!

Tell us about Sol Jewellery.

All of my jewellery is handmade by me, inspired by my love for surfing, travel and adventure. I have been doing it for the last 12 years and it has been my absolute passion. I use natural materials (shells, pearls, crystals and recycled glass), together with high-quality recycled sterling silver and gold-filled, that I have gathered from different tropical places around the world.

What do you love about the markets?

I love sharing my passion and the beauty of my jewellery with my customers to connect with the ocean spirit. I love connecting in person and helping my customers to find the perfect jewellery for them that makes them feel beautiful and connected to themselves and their power.

I love the energy of the markets, the people and the art. I feel like it is so important to be connected to the community in this beautiful way of creativity and abundance, seeing similar and new faces sharing a smile and connecting.

What is it like to be part of the markets community?

Being part of the Byron Markets is such a beautiful experience, and I feel so grateful to be part of our community, especially after what we have been through in 2022 that makes us closer.

What makes you passionate about your jewellery?

I’m extremely passionate about my jewellery and my creation because it helps me remember what I love so much about life: the freedom to create and dream. It makes me feel like everything is possible. I have been travelling the world with my jewellery and it was my dream and I feel so grateful that I can inspire people to do what they love and choose freedom and light in hard moments.

It really touches my heart receiving photos and messages from girls that wear my jewellery for years in so many different places in the world.

How have the markets supported you?

The market has been such an amazing way for me to connect with my community and also to make a living from the art that I love the most.
