Byron Yoga Centre
Nestled in the heart of Byron Bay, the Byron Yoga Centre has been a beacon of light and healing for the past 35 years. Founded by John Ogilvie, the Byron Yoga Centre has become the longest-running yoga centre in Australia and a symbol of resilience, transformation and community support.
John Ogilvie's personal journey with yoga and recovery from addiction is a testament to the transformative power of yoga. He discovered yoga during his stay at The Buttery, a local rehab centre, where he practiced the 12-step program alongside yoga. Yoga became the balm for his wounds, gradually healing the "black hole" in his life. This experience ignited his passion to share the gift of yoga with the world.
In 1988, the Byron Yoga Centre was born in an old meat factory known as the Epicentre. Here, John introduced affordable yoga classes and teacher training programs, making yoga accessible to all. Over the years, the centre’s growth and commitment to sustainability have been remarkable. Today, it boasts 30 staff, six yoga spaces, 15 dedicated teachers and a range of accommodations catering to various budgets.
To celebrate their 35th anniversary, the Byron Yoga Centre is generously giving away a 7-day yoga retreat valued at $3,490. This generous offer is an opportunity for one lucky individual to experience the transformative power of yoga in this serene and nurturing environment. To enter, participants need to share in 35 words why they need a yoga retreat at Byron Yoga Centre.
Furthermore, for the local community, there's a 20% discount on retreats - a wonderful way to encourage more people to experience the benefits of yoga right in their backyard.
But that's not all! As part of their anniversary celebration, the Byron Yoga Centre has also contributed a 3-day yoga retreat worth $800 as the first prize in the December/January Byron Community Centre Raffle, drawn on February 1st. Tickets are available at the Byron Community Centre reception, priced at just $2.50 each or $5 for 10 tickets. It's a chance to experience the power of yoga and support a local cause at the same time.
As Byron Yoga Centre continues to evolve and inspire, it remains true to John's vision of making yoga accessible to everyone. Their commitment to sustainability, community and wellness stands as a shining example of how a business can positively impact lives and the planet for over three decades and counting. Here's to 35 years of healing, growth and transformation at Byron Yoga Centre!
