Festival of the Stone is set to return to Byron Bay on Saturday 20 June 2026, bringing together music lovers, locals and visitors for a much-loved winter celebration, all while raising vital funds for Fletcher Street Cottage.
Presented by Stone and Wood and now in its 12th year, the festival will once again transform the Stone and Wood Brewery in Centennial Circuit into a vibrant gathering of live music, freshly poured brews and community spirit. Running from 3pm to 10pm, the event marks the ceremonial tapping of Stone and Wood’s annual Stone Beer, brewed using glowing hot stones in homage to ancient brewing traditions.
While Festival of the Stone is known for showcasing outstanding Australian musical talent and bringing people together during the cooler months, its purpose runs deeper. The event proudly supports Fletcher Street Cottage through the Ingrained Foundation, helping raise critical funds for essential services, advocacy and practical support for people experiencing homelessness across the Northern Rivers.
“The reality is that homelessness remains one of the most pressing challenges in Byron Shire. With one of the highest rates of rough sleeping in NSW, the funds raised through Festival of the Stone make a tangible difference. Every ticket purchased and every dollar raised helps us continue offering practical support, dignity and connection to people who need it most.” - Bec Robinson, Relationships Manager Byron Community Centre
The latest NSW Street Count figures show Byron Shire continues to face one of the highest rates of rough sleeping in the state, with 291 people recorded sleeping rough in 2025, second only to the City of Sydney. Funds raised through Festival of the Stone directly contribute to Fletcher Street Cottage’s ability to provide daily meals, showers, laundry access, case management support and pathways to more stable housing for those doing it toughest in our community.
“Festival of the Stone is such a powerful example of what can happen when local business and community come together with purpose. The support from Stone and Wood and everyone who attends this event directly strengthens the work of Fletcher Street Cottage, helping us provide essential daily services and long term pathways for people experiencing homelessness across the Northern Rivers.”
Each year, the lead up to the festival begins with Stone Brew Day, when the brewing team and local community gather to heat stones over woodfire before lowering them into the kettle. This ceremonial process creates the distinctive rich, smoky flavour of Stone Beer and reinforces the festival’s deep connection to tradition and place.
“We are incredibly grateful to Stone and Wood and the Ingrained Foundation for continuing to stand alongside Fletcher Street Cottage. Festival of the Stone is more than a music event, it is a community driven initiative that channels energy and celebration into real impact for our region.”
Following another hugely successful event in 2025, Festival of the Stone 2026 is shaping up to be one of winter’s must attend community events. Line up announcements and ticket releases are coming soon.
Mark your calendar, book your leave and join us in June for an unforgettable afternoon and evening of music, connection and collective impact.
