Community Impact, Housing Pathways and Trauma Support

9th – 13th February 2026

This week at Fletcher Street Cottage we reflected on the growing impact of our work, strengthened key partnerships and supported people taking important steps forward. Here’s a snapshot of what happened.

Highlights

  • So far this year, Fletcher Street Cottage has welcomed 950 visitors including 36 new service users. We’ve served 409 breakfasts, facilitated 167 showers and supported people through 169 short appointments and 89 longer casework sessions. These figures reflect both the growing need in our community and the importance of ongoing collaboration.
  • Two women were referred this week to the We Are Mobilise Direct Giving Program, which provides financial assistance to help people access or sustain housing.
  • We were pleased to meet with Steve from the National Association for Loss and Grief (NALAG), who is exploring a partnership to offer grief and trauma support to participants who would benefit from these specialised services.
  • A participant who has been regularly accessing Fletcher Street Cottage began taking positive steps towards stability this week by attending support appointments and applying for financial and medical assistance. Our soft-entry approach allows people to move forward at their own pace while building confidence and independence.
  • Our Community Support Workers collaborated with Connecting Home, the Assertive Outreach team from Social Futures and the Department of Communities and Justice to coordinate referrals and emergency relief options for those in need.
