Commonwealth Bank Breakfast, Fresh Haircuts and Veteran Motorcycle Ride

This week at Fletcher Street Cottage we’ve been connecting with our community, celebrating generosity and providing vital care to those who need it most. Here’s a snapshot of what happened.

Highlights

• On Wednesday morning, we were joined by Sarah, Emma and Margie from the Commonwealth Bank Byron Bay, who spent the morning volunteering alongside our team, including volunteer Mary, Assistant Manager Maddi and Manager Damian. Their support and enthusiasm helped make breakfast service run smoothly and brightened everyone’s morning.
• On Thursday, our wonderful volunteer hairdresser Tegan visited Fletcher Street Cottage between 7:30am and 9am, offering free haircuts to our service users. Tegan generously donates her time on the first Thursday of each month, providing care and dignity through her kindness and skill.
• A big thank you also goes to Mel from Boho Hair, who recently volunteered her time to support a woman currently accessing our services. These community partnerships make a real difference for people doing it tough.
• On Wednesday, Maddi spoke with Kate on Paradise FM about the ongoing impact of Women’s Space and her recognition through the Zonta Young Women in Business Leadership Award.
• We were delighted to welcome members of the Veterans Motorcycle Club Northern NSW Chapter to Fletcher Street Cottage on Thursday. The club is gearing up for its inaugural ‘Lest We Forget’ Dice Run on Saturday 22 November 2025, raising funds to support veterans and others in need. Proceeds will go toward meals, emergency relief and essential services for local veterans doing it tough.
