8th July – 11th July 2025
This week at Fletcher Street Cottage, we’ve been busy supporting over 240 people, offering essential services and continuing our community partnerships. Here’s a look at what’s been happening this week.
Highlights:
- On Wednesday, we had breakfast with Cass, who runs ‘Anxiety Busting Workshops’. Cass has generously offered her six-week workshop to the women we support at Fletcher Street Cottage. If you’re interested, please enquire at our office. This workshop aims to help women manage anxiety and stress, providing vital support for those in need.
- Maddi and Suzanne attended the Byron Shire Committee Against Domestic and Family Violence meeting on Wednesday. This meeting brings together key stakeholders in the domestic and family violence sector to discuss current issues, barriers and share service updates. Our mission remains focused on promoting awareness through education, supporting safety and healing, and fostering community participation in prevention and support for those affected by domestic and family violence.
- On Thursday, we joined the NAIDOC Week celebration, marching from Railway Park to Dening Park, where we set up a stall alongside the Ending Rough Sleeping Collaboration. We provided arts and crafts, spoke to the community about the work we do at Fletcher Street Cottage and celebrated the importance of NAIDOC Week and First Nations culture.
- On Friday, we said a sad goodbye to Sue, one of our wonderful Community Support Workers. Sue has been with us for over a year and has made an invaluable impact on our team and the people we serve. We wish Sue all the best on her exciting new adventure, and she will certainly be missed by everyone at Fletcher Street Cottage.
