Byron’s Best Breakfast serves food, dignity and hope to locals doing it tough in the Byron community

2025

Byron’s Best Breakfast is a free community breakfast served at Fletcher Street Cottage four mornings a week. It offers more than a hot meal. It offers a safe space for locals who are struggling to connect, feel seen and access vital support. For many, it’s the first step towards housing, health services, and rebuilding their lives with dignity and hope.

The first step toward stability

Fletcher Street Cottage

Fletcher Street Cottage is a welcoming, community-led space in Byron Bay that provides practical and emotional support for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Guests can access hot meals, showers, laundry, health and housing referrals as well as friendly faces who meet them with respect and care. It’s a low-barrier environment designed to offer dignity and connection, no matter someone’s circumstances. With a strong network of local service providers and volunteers, the Cottage is often the first step toward stability. Whether someone is in crisis or simply needs a hand, Fletcher Street cottage is there to suport and listen.

It starts with food and fosters connection

Byron’s Best Breakfast

Held Tuesday to Friday from 7 to 9am, Byron’s Best Breakfast serves free hot meals to anyone doing it tough. But it’s about more than food. It’s about being seen, feeling safe and starting the day with some sense of routine. Guests are welcomed into the courtyard at Fletcher Street Cottage, where they can eat, rest and connect with volunteers and support staff. It’s a gentle and consistent point of care that brings dignity to the start of each day and creates opportunities for people to access the broader support they may need to move forward.

Your donation brings warmth and hope

Get Involved

The best way to support Byron’s Best Breakfast is to donate. Just $7.50 funds one hot breakfast and your contribution ensures we can keep serving over 200 meals every week. Donations help cover food, hygiene supplies and kitchen operations. And they also sustain the network of care that begins with that simple morning ritual. You can also help by spreading the word or volunteering a few hours of your time. But it’s financial support that keeps this lifeline open. Every dollar you give helps someone start their day with nourishment, connection and hope.

Where support begins with breakfast

More Than a Meal

A meal is just the beginning. Byron’s Best Breakfast is often the first point of contact between someone in crisis and the services that can help them rebuild. Guests have the chance to speak with staff, access referrals and start conversations that may lead to housing, health care, or mental health support. In this calm and caring environment, trust is built and support becomes possible. Your donation doesn’t just fund food: it opens doors to long-term change.

"It all started with breakfast."

In Their Words

"I’d been sleeping rough for weeks when someone told me about Fletcher Street. I came for a meal, but I stayed for the care. That first breakfast was the first time I felt human again. Bit by bit, the team helped me find housing support, and now I’ve got a safe place and even a job interview. It all started with that one meal."— Service User
