Board Director
Benj is a new resident of the Byron Shire. She and her family started anew in Ewingsdale in 2021. Benj is raising two young boys. Benj works as a sustainability advisor to large and small organisations. She develops strategies, tactics and initiatives to improve their environmental, social and climate impacts. She has experience across a wide range of sectors, currently focusing on the fashion industry. Benj has embraced the Aussie way for the past 15 years, initially living in Sydney. In her free time, she enjoys the beach, either walking the dog, running or surfing. Originally from France, she values the local economy, craftsmanship, and appreciates the arts and culture that makes our community so special.
What is your role on the Byron Community Centre Board? My job is to work together with the Board and guide the organisation to meet its objectives. I have been on other committees before and helped make decisions on property and finances for a women's shelter and a scout’s group.
What is the most inspiring part of your role? I find a lot of satisfaction spending time supporting local community organisations and contributing to bettering the lives of others that use the services.
I love my community because…People here are connected to the magnificent environment that surrounds us, and to each other. I am inspired by the respect, love and care I witness here everyday.
