Thriving Together: Destination Byron 2025 Symposium

On Thursday 23rd October, the Byron Community Centre and Theatre will host the Destination Byron 2025 Symposium, bringing together locals, business owners and community leaders for a day of collaboration and fresh ideas.

With the theme "Thriving Together: Building the Future for Byron Bay", the symposium will focus on creating a sustainable visitor economy that benefits both residents and environment.

Destination Byron President Wendy Bithell says the day is about inspiring action while keeping community at the heart of decision-making.

"We're offering a day packed with the latest insights and trends, practical advice for local businesses and opportunities for the community to share their input on how we can balance our visitor economy with caring for our environment and culture."

The morning program features a sustainability keynote from Professor Sara Dolnicar, insights from regional tourism data and a case study on accessible events with adaptive surfing champion Mark 'Mono' Stewart. Economist Clifford Bennett will also provide a global update on the business and tourism trends.

In the afternoon, award-winning marketer Jess Ruhfus will deliver a keynote on building successful brand partnerships, followed by a community panel and live Q&A with council representatives. A funding workshop will also invite feedback and ideas on supporting Destinations Byron's future initiatives.

Running from 9am to 2.30pm the event includes a working-style lunch to encourage networking and connection.

The symposium is proudly supported by local sponsors, with Byron Community Centre as Gold Sponsor and Silver Sponsors including Crystal Castle, Byron Gold Club, Ballina Byron Airport, Wake Up, Tree House, Crystalbrook Byron, BASQ House, Elements of byron, Cape Byron Kayaks and Business NSW.

Tickets are $89 + Booking Free. For more information visit Destination Byron.
