Camping Donations for the Homeless

With the winter season coming, sleeping rough can be an especially difficult and dangerous experience for people who are sleeping rough. Providing a warm and dry bed can make a significant difference in their quality of life. In response to this need, the Global Ripple op shop is collecting new or high-quality camping gear, including sleeping bags, mats and tents, for our homeless hub, Fletcher Street Cottage.

A Warm, Dry Bed in Winter

Jen Lunan, a Community Support Worker, understands the importance of having a comfortable place to sleep during the colder months. "As the weather gets colder and we head into winter, having a warm, dry bed makes a huge difference in the quality of life for people sleeping rough," she said.

If you have any top quality gear that you no longer need or use, please consider donating it to help those in need. Your generosity will make a real difference in the lives of rough sleepers. The Global Ripple op shop is located at 2 Grevillea Street in the Byron Industrial Estate (next to Bunnings), and accepts donations from Monday to Saturday between 9am - 4:30pm.

“One of the Fletcher Street Cottage service users recently accessed a tent, mat and warm sleeping bag after sleeping rough on the streets and said that it was the first time in weeks they felt safe and warm enough to have a great night's sleep," adds Jen.
