Let’s Talk End of Life Planning is the fifth event in the Let’s Talk series, organised by Sabine Muschter in collaboration with Byron Community Centre, Byron Seniors Club and HeyDay Supports.
This thoughtful and informative session creates space for open conversation about planning ahead, understanding options and making informed decisions that bring clarity, confidence and peace of mind.
With over 25 years of experience in intensive care nursing, Sabine Muschter has witnessed how the absence of early conversations and clear documentation can add unnecessary stress for individuals and families during serious illness or at the end of life. This session is inspired by her passion for normalising end-of-life conversations and empowering people with practical knowledge.
Zenith Virago is the EO and Founder of the Natural Death Care Centre. A Death-walker, Ceremonialist and Para-Legal, Zenith will explain key legal and practical planning considerations in clear, accessible language, including Advance Health Directives, Enduring Guardianships, Power of Attorney and Wills. She will also provide a brief overview of Voluntary Assisted Dying, helping people understand their options and make informed decisions at the right time.
Sue McGuigan is an Occupational Therapist and Aged Care Assessment Clinical Lead for NSW Health on the Far North Coast. Sue will guide participants through navigating My Aged Care, accessing services, and understanding ‘Support at Home’ and end-of-life care pathways.
Peter Devine, CEO of HeyDay Supports, will speak about the aged care journey and how to find and access local support as care needs emerge, whether suddenly or gradually. HeyDay Supports has provided community-based aged, disability and dementia care across the Northern Rivers for over 30 years.
Following the discussion, attendees will have the opportunity to meet the speakers and connect with local care providers and services, with information tables available for further support and resources.
An important conversation for anyone seeking clarity, confidence and peace of mind around end-of-life planning.
